Images on Instagram not loading on WiFi? The Fix is Here !

Some of my friends had an issue where the images on Instagram app on iPhone would not load on WiFi at home but they got loaded when using mobile data. They wouldn’t even load when using the Instagram website on Windows 10. In this post I have mentioned some steps that I took to troubleshoot the issue.

  1. Changed the WiFi channel of the router.
  2. Uninstalled and reinstalled Instagram app.
  3. Made the phone forget the WiFi network and logged back into the network.
  4. Installed firmware update on the iPhone.
  5. Contacted the ISP for further assistance.

After contacting the ISP, the customer representative told me that it was something to do with WiFi. She said that when using mobile data, it was like as if the mobile phone was connected via a cable and when it is connected via WiFi, the signals travel through the air. Knowing very well that this explanation made no sense, I took the following steps:

  1. Logged in to the Router Configuration Page on a web browser (Microsoft Edge, Firefox or Google Chrome).
  2. Clicked on “Advanced Setup”.
  3. Clicked on “Quality of Service”.
  4. Unchecked “Enable QoS”.

Now, enabling QoS is a good thing (Read : How to Use Quality of Service (QoS) to Get Faster Internet When You Really Need It) but there is no point in enabling it if you end up with more problems.

Now you should be able to see images on Instagram on iPhone and Android apps and on Windows and Mac OS systems.

Hope this helps.
