Call of Duty Players Rejoice : Advanced Warfare Multiplayer isn’t Dead !

I know that most people say that Call of Duty : Advanced Warfare Multiplayer is dead. When you try to find matches, you will probably get the screen with “No games found” as shown below:

Well, the reason for this is skill-based matchmaking (The method used to find players for matches based on skill), which is different from that used in Modern Warfare or Infinite Warfare.

Now there is a way to join lobbies in the PC version and that is to find Steam Groups (Please note that you can only find matches which fall under Team Deathmatch category most of the time). It’s a bit like “stalking”.

Please follow the procedure given below:

  1. Double-click on Steam icon on the taskbar.
  2. Hover the cursor to your Steam name.
  3. Click on “GROUPS” and then on “Browse groups”
  4. Under “Search for community groups”, type the names of the groups given below one at a time.
  5. Click on “Join Group”.
  6. Finally, click on a player name who is playing Advanced Warfare and then click on “Join Game”.

The following are some popular groups where Advanced Warfare players can be found :

  • keeping advanced warfare alive
  • COD AW Standard [TM8]
  • Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare – Multiplayer

Hope you will be able to find some matches. Have fun !

Silence, please !

For any fans of Call of Duty (or for anyone who is interested in acoustics and sound), this post is for you.

If you have played Call of Duty : Modern Warfare 2 or the new instalments of the popular first-person shooter gaming franchise, you must have come across an attachment to your primary weapon known as a “silencer” or a suppressor.

Now, in the game what this does is that it hides the location of you on the enemy mini-map at the time of firing. But what is the theory behind this? The infographic given below might explain this :

Figure 2 : Gun silencer in action

When a gun is fired, superheated and pressurized gases are produced. When these gases escape into the air, the dramatic change in environment causes the loud sound of a gun blast. Silencers help to make this transition more gradual for the gases. Baffles and expansion chambers can be found inside the suppressor, which aid in efficient funnelling, cooling, and spreading out the gases to reduce the level of noise emitted (below the 140dB safe-hearing level) once they are released to the atmosphere. “Other benefits of a silencer include reduced recoil, better accuracy, smaller muzzle flash, and less damage to nearby ears” [2].
