Low Signal on an iPhone 6s [Fix]

It has been a few months since  iPhone 6s and 6s Plus has been released to the public by Apple. The reviews have been positive in general but I came across an issue with a drop in cellular signal strength. This was quite frustrating as I was unable to make and receive calls. What’s the point of having a phone if you can’t make or receive any calls, right?

Fortunately, I came across an idea for a fix. It is quite simple and I would like to share it with anyone who has got affected.

First, make sure that the software that is running in your iPhone (iOS 9) is up to date. The current version is 9.2.

If the problem persists, please follow the following procedure:

  1. Tap on “Settings” icon and tap on “Cellular”.
  2. Under Cellular, check if “Cellular Data” is off. If so, turn it on.
  3. Leave your iPhone for a few seconds (Approximately 10 seconds would be sufficient).
  4. Make sure that “Voice and Data” is set to “4G”.
  5. Then, disable Cellular Data.

If the issue does not get solved or if the cellular reception gets attenuated frequently while cellular data is off, follow these steps:

  1. Tap on “Settings” icon and tap on “Cellular”.
  2. Set “Voice” to “2G”.

Please note that this procedure is for users who do not use cellular data but might work for others as well.

You should now see that the signal strength is a better than before or at its best. I hope this helps.
